088 – I’m on the Run

Recorded 27 January 2009

This is a quick show, recorded early because I’m on my way to my first meeting as a member of the Chicago Music Commission’s Advisory Board.

If you can’t tell that I’m excited to see what awaits music in Chicago and how we can help shape it, well, just follow me on Twitter or Plurk, because I’m going to be throwing out some updates and pictures along the way tonight, you can be sure.

We’ll be meeting at Pressure Point Recording Studios on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, a place I’ve wanted to check out for awhile now, I hear it’s phenomenal.  We’ll be talking about what recent changes have happened and where we’re heading, so I’m sure I’ll have a lot of information I’ll want to share.

News You can Use

  • Coming up February 9 is the next Musicians At Work Forum put on by the Chicago Music Commission and The City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. This session is all about licensing your music.
  • Mark your calendars!  Friday, January 30 I’ll be recording a special live show with Dave Kusek, co-author of The Future of Music and Vice President at Berklee School of Music for a 45 minute discussion. The live show will be recorded at 2:00 CST (18:00 UTC). If you can’t be there for the live show, you can always join in by sending an e-mail to [email protected] or by calling the Comments from the Podcast Gallery voicemail line at 630.492.0487 and leave your question or comment there.
  • You can also see more information on the With A Voice Like This event page on Facebook.

Just a few thoughts about the week off from caroling, posted production stills of the film Bound With Love at 4-AM.net. If you would like to see the preview version of Bound With Love in which we appear, just drop an e-mail to [email protected] and I’ll send the info out so you can view it.

News You can Use
A new way to track and an announcement:

  • Found this EpikOne.com article from last September about how to use Google Analytics Campaign tracking with Social Networks to give you more information.  Cross referenced with a Google Analytics support page and finally a Google Docs Spreadsheet to build and store your tracking links built by EpikOne. Everything you need to build and implement a better tracking system for your use of social networks.
  • I’ve been asked to Moderate the March Musicians at Work Forum for the Chicago Music Commission. More information about that as it comes in.

Next Episode
Will be a live  interview with Derek Sivers, best known as the Founder of CD Baby, he’s moved on to other projects helping musicians including his latest project MuckWork.
